We all want glowing skin, but we aren’t all fully sure how to get it. Some of us might be tempted to reach for a bottle of tanning oil and find some sun, while others will opt for more chemical-laden products that have the potential to do harm. Thankfully, there are numerous ways you can get glowing skin without having to expose yourself to harmful UV rays or harsh chemicals. Just follow these skin care tips regularly so your skin can stay hydrated and healthy:.

Wear sunscreen every single day.
Sunscreen is the number one way to protect your skin and reduce the risk of developing cancer. It’s so important, in fact, that dermatologists recommend applying it daily—even if you’re going to be inside all day. That’s because ultraviolet radiation can penetrate cloud cover and windows, so even if it’s cloudy and you’re not going to be spending time outside, it’s still worth putting on sunscreen before leaving the house.
If you don’t have access to a dermatologist or aren’t sure which sunscreen is right for you, opt for something with broad-spectrum protection from UVA rays (the aging rays) as well as UVB rays (the burning ones). The Environmental Working Group puts out an annual guide of recommended sunscreens based on their safety ratings; check out their website for more information.
Use the DIY toner recipe below.
I know what you’re thinking. You don’t have to use store-bought toner—a DIY version can be made by mixing water and apple cider vinegar in a spray bottle, and then spritzing it onto your face after cleansing. The acidity of the vinegar will help remove excess dirt from your skin, tighten pores, reduce redness, and minimize the appearance of acne (which is why some people swear by this natural remedy).
It’s also important to note that while toner can help keep your pores clean and clear—and thus give you brighter-looking skin—it isn’t necessary for healthy skin. If you’d rather not use one at all, opt for a gentle cleanser instead!
Try oil cleansing.
The absolute best way to cleanse your skin is with oil. Seriously! It’s true! Oil cleansing is a great way to remove makeup, cleanse your pores and moisturize. Plus it treats acne and dry skin too!
To get started, you’ll need an oil (I use jojoba) and a cloth or cotton pads. How much oil you use depends on the thickness of your beard hair; the more facial hair you have, the less oil you need. Just massage it on your face until all the dirt and makeup has been removed – make sure to get under your eyes as well.
Then rinse off with warm water using something like a washcloth or hand towel (depending on how dirty/oily/wet things are). If necessary apply another round of cleansing just like before until everything comes off without making bubbles everywhere (this means there might still be some dirt left in those pesky pores).
Don’t skip out on moisturizer.
Moisturizer is one of the best ways to keep your skin healthy, so don’t skip it! It helps keep your skin hydrated and prevents dryness, which can lead to wrinkles and other signs of aging. Moisturizers also protect against sun damage and inflammation (which is exactly what causes redness and irritation), while containing ingredients that help control acne-causing bacteria.
Some people think moisturizers are just for wintertime, but they’re actually great year-round—especially if your daytime routine includes sunscreen or makeup with SPF in it already. Using a moisturizer after applying sunscreen will give you an extra layer of protection from sun damage and dehydration during the day, especially if you’re going out into the elements for longer periods of time (like when walking to work in the morning).
